One Heart Centre has opened in North Sydney. Our new clinic on Walker Street brings together subspecialty-trained cardiologists and on-site cardiac diagnostics in one place — with same-day and next-day appointments available for urgent referrals.
Waiting weeks to see a cardiologist is stressful, and for some heart problems it is not safe. We built One Heart Centre around a simple idea: when your GP is worried about your heart, you should be seen quickly, tested properly, and given a clear plan.
Our North Sydney rooms are at Suite 2, Lower Ground, 71 Walker Street — a short walk from Victoria Cross and North Sydney stations and the Miller Street bus routes.

Same-day and next-day appointments
We hold appointment slots open for urgent referrals. If your GP is concerned about chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, fainting or an abnormal ECG, we can usually see you the same day or the next working day.
Where it is appropriate, we can also perform the relevant test at the same visit, so you leave with answers rather than another appointment card. Telehealth consultations are available if travelling to the clinic is difficult, and are charged at the same fees as an in-person visit.
Cardiac testing on site
Most cardiac investigations can be done in our rooms, usually on the day of your consultation or shortly afterwards:
- Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) — bulk billed with a valid Medicare card and current referral
- Exercise stress echocardiogram — bulk billed with a valid Medicare card and current referral
- ECG
- Holter and extended event monitoring
- 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
Our echocardiography includes advanced techniques such as strain imaging, which can detect changes in heart muscle function earlier than ejection fraction alone. Where a scan is not available in the rooms — cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, transoesophageal echocardiography — we arrange it through our affiliated imaging providers and hospitals and report back to you and your GP.
Procedures including coronary angiography and stenting, structural heart intervention, pacemakers and defibrillators, and catheter ablation are performed by our cardiologists at their affiliated hospitals.
Subspecialty-trained cardiologists
Cardiology has become a group of distinct subspecialties, and the doctor who is best placed to help you depends on the problem. Every cardiologist at One Heart Centre is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians who has completed additional subspecialty training after qualifying as a general cardiologist, in areas including:
- Interventional and structural heart disease
- Electrophysiology and heart rhythm disorders
- Advanced cardiac imaging — echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI
- Cardio-oncology — heart care for people having or recovering from cancer treatment
- Heart failure, preventive cardiology and lipid management
Because we work as one group, your case can be discussed across subspecialties without a new referral or another wait. If the rhythm question turns out to be a valve question, the right person is down the hall.
